How it started
In 2016 we adopted a beautiful French Bulldog from French Bulldog Rescue GB, knowing that he has health issues. What we weren’t prepared for was just how messy he was! He has BOAS and gets sick easily if he eats or drinks too fast! I was washing bedding constantly and decided to make waterproof bedding and covers to make my life easier. Pooky Pets started as an idea in 2017, and came to fruition in 2018.
I also found that a lot of pet bedding was very boring, black, grey or brown. As a pet owner why should you compromise on style and quality for function? So I design and make vibrant, colourful, practical things for pets. Every fabric is lovingly selected, each pattern carefully worked and reworked until it is perfect, and then I hand craft each piece individually.
I know from first-hand experience that toy drool, food slobber and muddy paws are part of our daily life. It’s essential that everything is washable and durable. All our beds, cushions and duvets have removable, washable covers, so it doesn’t matter if there are any accidents or if anybody is leaky.
Giving Back
I am owned by 2 beautiful rescue dogs that are part of our family. I know that not all pets are lucky enough to have a loving forever home, so I regularly donate products to animal rescues that they use for fundraising and charity auctions.
